HOW COUNSELING AT BRIDGEWAY WORKS

Thoughtful care starts with listening.

  1. We start by listening.

We begin by understanding what feels difficult before deciding what support may be useful.

  2. We shape care together.

Care is built around the person’s story, strengths, relationships, and priorities, not a one-size-fits-all path.

  3. We move at your pace.

Counseling creates space to understand patterns, identify priorities, and consider practical next steps at a pace that respects the individual.

Faith-based counseling

SERVICE 02

Coming Soon

Comprehensive Community Support Services

Comprehensive Community Support Services are a behavioral health service designed to help children, teens, and adults build and use important skills in everyday life.

Counseling often provides a place to talk, understand patterns, process experiences, and learn new strategies. Community Support helps a person practice and use those skills in the situations and environments where they are actually needed.

Often called “Community Support.”

What is a Community Support Associate (CSA)?

A Community Support Associate, or CSA, is a trained provider who helps a person practice and build skills connected to their behavioral health treatment plan.

CSAs work under the supervision of a qualified behavioral health professional. Depending on the person’s needs and goals, services may take place in everyday settings where skills can be practiced and used in real life.

Been told to look for “CSA services”? You’re in the right place. Community Support is the service, and a CSA is the trained provider who helps deliver it.

WHAT SUPPORT CAN LOOK LIKE

Building skills for everyday life.

Support is individualized. Depending on the person’s needs and treatment goals, Community Support may focus on areas such as:

Emotional regulation & coping

Practicing strategies for managing strong emotions, stress, and difficult situations.

Daily routines & independence

Building routines and practical skills that support greater independence.

Communication & relationships

Practicing interpersonal, social, and communication skills.

Community participation

Building confidence and skills for participating in everyday activities and accessing community resources.

Managing behavioral health needs

Learning to recognize changes, use strategies from the treatment plan, and better manage behavioral health needs in everyday life.

Practical life skills

Building skills such as organization, planning, shopping, budgeting, transportation, and other daily responsibilities when they are connected to the person’s identified needs and treatment goals.

Community Support focuses on building the person’s own skills and independence rather than simply doing tasks for them.

WHO MAY BENEFIT

When knowing the skill isn’t the same as using it.

Community Support may be worth exploring when a child, teen, or adult has behavioral health needs that are affecting everyday life and needs additional support practicing skills outside of traditional counseling.

Community Support may be helpful for someone who:

  • understands coping strategies but has difficulty using them during real-life situations
  • struggles with emotional regulation, routines, or responsibilities
  • has difficulty using communication or relationship skills outside of therapy
  • needs support carrying behavioral health treatment goals into everyday life
  • has difficulty participating successfully at home or in the community
  • would benefit from structured skill-building connected to behavioral health needs

You do not have to know whether someone qualifies before reaching out.

Community Support is a behavioral health service, and eligibility is determined individually based on the person’s needs, assessment, treatment plan, medical necessity, and insurance requirements.

Bridgeway can help families understand the referral and assessment process and determine whether Comprehensive Community Support may be an appropriate service to explore.

Medicaid requirements and authorization processes may vary by health plan.
