What it is

Comprehensive Community Support Services help individuals build the everyday skills they need to live as independently as possible at home and in the community. Support is provided in person by trained Community Support Associates working under the supervision of a licensed behavioral health professional, and it follows a treatment plan written for each person.

Depending on a person's plan, support may include:

  • Practicing daily living skills, with step-by-step coaching
  • Following a medication plan as prescribed, and recognizing symptoms and side effects
  • Behavioral support and skill-building
  • Finding and using community resources
  • Managing emotions
  • Learning crisis coping skills
  • Building communication and relationship skills

Who it may help

Community support may help individuals whose behavioral health needs make everyday life harder: keeping up with routines and self-care, getting out in the community, handling big emotions, or getting along with others. Every person starts with an assessment by a licensed clinician. Together, we'll look at whether this service is the right fit and what your health plan covers.

If your family's main goal is building daily living skills, occupational therapy may also help.

How much support someone receives

The type and amount of support is based on each person's needs, their treatment plan, and what their health plan authorizes. We'll talk through what to expect before services begin.

Leadership

Comprehensive Community Support Services at Bridgeway will be led by Dr. Jodi Lefevers Carroll, PhD, LCSW, Director of Behavioral Health.
